Adam is a collector of records, cassettes, cheap vintage stereo gear, and boomboxes. He's also one of my DJ mentors and a really chill guy. When I told him I wanted to photograph him posing Radio Raheem-style with one of his boomboxes, he willingly obliged. But he didn't have a street blaster of the same magnitude as Radio Raheem's; only the pink and purple ones he got for his daughters. We made it work anyway, and we threw in a Lloyd Dobler pose for good measure.
Street Portraits with Kate
My good friend Kate needed new headshots so we strolled around Uptown Oakland and took some portraits in the wild. I'm so happy with the way these turned out!
Birches Be Like ...
I went back to visit Dad in Tupper Lake in early November, but the fall colors were gone and there was no snow yet. Great opportunity for high contrast black & whites of the birches!
House Goals
From the home of my old friends Roz and Kley - a couple who doesn't look to IKEA or West Elm or Houzz or Apartment Therapy or Pinterest for guidance. I've always admired their effortless style, which I can only describe as part boho chic and part grandma's house.
David & Kristin's Lucky 13
I couldn't say no when one of my favorite couples asked me to take their photos for their 13th anniversary. But instead of just doing the traditional portraits, I envisioned shooting some cheeky "stock image" scenes in their bedroom. Thankfully they have a great sense of humor, so they played along with me and the results are fantastic! But of course I threw in some traditional portraits, too. Luckily they look great in both. Happy anniversary, David & Krin!
