I had the honor of shooting photos last week at the launch party for It Takes A Village Nation, a startup social justice network that aims to give like-minded organizations & individuals around the world a new platform to collaborate and mobilize around causes they care about. Instead of doing a traditional "step and repeat" in front of a branded backdrop, the guests held custom-made signs that they could write on. It was cool idea that matched the DIY vibe of this event and everyone had fun with it. Sometimes it's nice to spend an evening around people doing amazing things in your own community.
Susie, Midcentury Modern Hound
Sleek like a Saarinen table, my dog was made for Palm Springs.
Maligayang Pasko, Or Something Like That ...
Trying to get into the Pinoy-style Christmas spirit with these colorful shots from the Parol Festival in San Francisco last night. A parol is a star-shaped Christmas lantern. We never had one in the house when I was a kid, but I'm inspired to get one this year.
I <3 New York
As you can see, I am not above engaging in some tourist activity while in New York City. The above are some miscellaneous shots from the High Line and Carnegie Deli, which is in its final days.
Autumn in the ADK
I've lived in the Bay Area over 20 years, but New York is where I grew up. Steve and I try to get back there every other year to visit family and friends. This brings us to practically every corner of the state: from the Finger Lakes region in the west, to New York City & the Hudson Valley back east, and the Adirondacks up north where my father lives. Dad is a photographer, too, so naturally we go out and shoot together.
This year I timed my visit to see peak Fall color in the ADK. Despite Dad's admonishments that I don't have the ideal lenses for landscape photography or that I should be using my tripod more, I still managed to snap a few shots worth sharing. I hope I've done him proud.
